Everything below them is a rounding error. This guide breaks down how the local pack is ranked and how to earn a place in it.
What is the Google local pack?
The local pack (also called the “map pack” or “3-pack”) is the block of three business listings Google shows above the regular organic results for searches with local intent. Each listing pulls its name, rating, hours, and category straight from the business's Google Business Profile.
Because it sits at the very top of the page and carries star ratings, the local pack is prime real estate. Ranking here is often more valuable than ranking #1 in the classic blue links, since it's closer to the customer's moment of decision.

The three ranking factors that matter
Google is unusually clear about how local results are ranked. It comes down to three things:

- A steady stream of recent reviews: volume, rating, recency, and your responses all feed prominence. Ten reviews this quarter beats fifty from three years ago.

How long does it take to rank?
